Background to the Odyssey
Armed with no motorcycle experience and a borrowed HD camera, four friends from small-town Whakatane, New Zealand, decided to screw the job, the good advice and stories about Africa and set off on the adventure of a life time – crossing the length of the African continent, on motorbikes most people wouldn’t ride to the cow shed.
And did they make it? You bet their bruised backsides they did. Not only did they manage to ride all 21,000km from Cape Town to London and not get shot, these clever chaps even managed to film the whole thing too – so now we get to watch!
Countless breakdowns, rogue animals, debilitating bouts of diarrhoea and about three thousand and seventy two potholes later, we bring you “African Odyssey” – a full-length documentary that captures the ups and downs (damn those potholes!) pleasures, disappointment, the perseverance of travel across Africa and the joy of sharing an adventure with friends.
If you missed the successful premiere tour - ask your local cinema for details as we will be screening again in some areas.
Once again a big “Cheers!” to all those who came and saw the film on our New Zealand tour.
